bronzeville's Third ward parade of homes

"[B]ringing high quality, carefully constructed market rate housing to the neighborhood" is the goal of the Third Ward Parade of Homes, as Alderman Pat Dowell writes on the Parade's website. 

4516 S. Prairie Ave.

Greenline is one of five developers selected by the city of Chicago for the initiative, which is jumpstarting community investment in Bronzeville. Prairie had five lots on one block, making it an excellent choice to start a project that will grow to include other new construction as well. Our entry is a five-bedroom, net-zero-energy home that has some of our trademark features including solar panels and all-electric power systems. With a popular design in a great location, this home sold quickly. Greenbuilt Home Tour

The organizer of the annual GreenBuilt Home Tour is the Illinois Green Alliance. The Alliance writes that the tour, held each July, features “Illinois’ finest builders, designers and homeowners who have created healthy, energy saving green homes. Greenline Homes has been featured nearly every year since the program started in 2013.

This house was designed to be durable, healthy, comfortable, energy efficient, sustainable, and beautiful. We employed the methods Greenline uses today to create ultra-energy-efficient buildings from advanced wall framing to energy-efficient doors, yielding high insulation values, and more. The home also features a chef’s kitchen, rear deck and 2-car garage.

3848 N. Nottingham Ave.

Greenline built 3848 N. Nottingham for under $125/square foot. Most notable on this latest house was achieving the Passive House air sealing standard.

4541 S. Greenwood Ave.

A classic greystone, the home features two decks, rec room, a third floor den, walk-in pantry, mudroom, and a garden level designed for related living. This home was purchased by a religious organization to use as a residence for members of their order.

One of two infill row houses Greenline built on long-vacant lots to complete this historic row of turn-of-the-century homes in the North Kenwood landmark district; our design was approved by Landmarks Commission. Not included on the tour but built at the same time and on a similar design was 4535 S. Greenwood, which sold in June 2016 for $755,000.

6909 W. Armitage

At the family's request this home is constructed with extra attention to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, including whole-house Heat-Recovery Ventilator (HRV), and dehumidifier to insure highest-quality indoor air conditions.

Another feature of this home is a split-level design, which gives the kitchen and dining room a spacious 12-foot ceiling.

3211 S. Calumet Ave.

This custom, new-construction single-family home in a landmark district was built for a family who had owned the lot for more than a decade to build a dream home in the community of their choice.

This home was built to fit in with the historic landmark requirements of the Gap community, including the only row houses designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, which are adjacent just to the south.

1111 W. 16th St.

This home was built in 2015 for a family who wanted to live in Pilsen but could not find a house they wanted and decided to pursue a custom project with Greenline.

The home features a spiral staircase that goes up to a rooftop deck, expansive windows and tall ceilings.

City Lots for City Living

Built in 2009, this project resulted in 37 affordable condos that sold for under $200,000 each. We built six condominium apartment buildings:

Our work won a Bruce Abrams Good Neighbors Award from the Chicago Association of Realtors for representing “some of the highest quality units at affordable prices in Chicagoland, [they] are a departure from the look of affordable housing in the past.” The 12-unit condo building at 6600 S. Kimbark was Greenline's  first new construction project in 2005 and some of the first new construction in Woodlawn in many years.
